Please find attached a Fact Sheet about a facility that has recently opened in Gateshead Civic Centre. This is an autism-friendly space located in the main reception area, on the ground floor.  It offers people with autism a quiet and private room when they are visiting the Council, or are in the town centre and need to take time out to be away from people in a place specially designed to meet their needs. The room is also available for other users who need a quiet space, such as older people or more vulnerable people.

The Council has trained 10 customer services staff to be Austism Supporters to help anyone who comes to the Civic and needs additional support. All Customer Services Staff also have been trained on how to operate the equipment in the room. The room is available Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.

The room is available for use if you are in the Civic Centre or in the Town Centre area.
